As a part of RIT's degree requirements; mechanical engineering students must complete 48 weeks of Co-op (Cooperative Education). Because of this co-op requirement I've had the opportunity to hold unique co-op positions in the mechanical engineering industry that have helped me hone my technical knowledge and gain invaluable experience.
I worked as a mechanical engineering co-op at Wegmans in Rochester, New York. As an intern in the design services department, I worked on the design and engineering of the HVAC and refrigeration systems in the Wegmans Food Markets.
I worked as a mechanical engineering co-op at GE Aviation in Lynn, Massachusetts. As a mechanical engineering co-op in the supply chain, I worked with manufacturing shop engineers on various projects across the plant related to increasing production and reducing cost. I worked from January 2014 to August 2014 and received co-op credit for my 8-month employment.
I've received co-op credit for my 4 week long training program for AFROTC. This 4 week long Field Training was held at Maxwell AFB, Alabama and Joint Forces Training Camp, Mississippi during the 2013 summer. During this training, cadets were trained and evaluated in the physical, mental and leadership aspects of a military lifestyle.
