As a part of Imagine RIT's annual innovation festival (http://www.rit.edu/imagine/); RIT President Bill Destler issues a challenge to the student body and faculty. In 2012 the challenge was to create an electric dragster to race in a 100 meter drag race. In 2013 the challenge was to construct an electric vehicle to compete in an hour long 'E-Durance' race. In 2012 WE@RIT formed a team of all female engineers to compete in these annual challenges; the 'WE@RIT Hot Wheelz' team. I had the privelage of being a member of the Hot Wheelz team both years; and served as one of the team captains in 2013.
In 2012, our team took home 1st place; we finished the 100 meters in 5.74 seconds and clocked a speed of 58 mph! |

In 2013, our team finished in 3rd place and traveled a total of 10.4 miles and lasted the entire 60 minutes; our team also took home the Innovation Award! |
Both builds were extensive in nature, personally 60+ hours were dedicated to this project; for more details from our build visit the Hot Wheelz blog; http://weatrithotwheelz.blogspot.com/
